A family portrait is not simply a means of documenting the family group, it is a way we tell our story, the way we live our lives. Anne Edwardes’ approach to portrait photography is unique. Anne looks to capture the personality of the family by working outside the studio;

“To take a family out of a comfortable surrounding and photograph them in an ascetic studio under cold studio lights can never truly represent the warmth and candidness of the relationships we understand as being the foundation of family life.”

For Anne the family portrait is something that we should treasure, that should show us at our most relaxed and informal, it should document a special day together. For many families that Anne has photographed the ‘portrait day’ has been a pleasant and memorable event in itself, a good excuse to get the family together again.

After an initial consultancy visit she will prepare a day to either visit the clients at home or at a special location; a favourite woodland walk or a stroll along the beach. Working with the clients specifications Anne will prepare a portfolio of the day for the family to peruse at their leisure before making their decisions on the shots they want.
